When CNA Insurance was ready to relocate 1,700 employees from their Chicago headquarters to a brand new building at 151 N. Franklin, they knew there was an opportunity to reimagine their work environment.
Chief among their goals were to increase collaborative space for their teams, give employees more choices in how they work, and to establish a sense of community in their office. A modernized atmosphere positively impacts office culture and stimulates employees. Corporate Concepts worked within the designs by IA Interior Architects to amplify CNA’s core message, “we can show you more”, by starting with ancillary furniture in open meeting areas, conferencing, executive floor and boardrooms.
To help make CNA’s move a success, Corporate Concepts provided furniture that allows employees the opportunity to move away from their desks, make space for themselves and find ways to work that best fit their unique needs. Here’s how we did it….
MAKING SPACE
A major component of CNA’s redesign and space refresh included an increase in collaborative space by 25%. By decreasing the private office footprint, the company reduced their real estate needs by 60%. Nucraft furniture made a perfect fit for CNA’s vision in these areas that foster community and openness amongst coworkers. Ancillary furniture shown in conference rooms, private offices and executive offices is also manufactured by Nucraft.
The clean, simple shapes of these pieces throughout the sleek office environment serve as a thread that holds the design of the space together. Pops of color create a sense of energy that allows employees to feel motivated, mobile and united.
BRAND ANGLES
Small nods to the 70-degree angle in CNA’s logo design create a unique, brand-specific atmosphere. You can see this element across the office in the textile patters, floor patters and even table legs. In the conference rooms, Stylex Chairs helped to highlight the sharp-angle motif from the ceilings down to the floor.
NEW AND IMPROVED
To help CNA succeed in offering their employees more choice in their daily work lives, Corporate Concepts installed a variety of welcoming areas throughout the office. By incorporating their brand colors, we were able to tie several community areas into the overall theme and select pieces that invite team members to make themselves comfortable.
